CR-AVE Flight Trajectories

Description

The pdf files below are composed of 3 plots in each file with the aircraft flight track superimposed

• 1: A plot showing potential temperature vs. time of the flight from either the MMS, PT, or NAV data. The back trajectory parcel numbers are superimposed on the plot.
• 2-3: Lat/Lon plot of the trajectories as a function of time. Arrows show the direction and are color coded by trajectory number.

The back trajectory files are generated from the wind fields and temperatures derived from the NASA/GSFC's Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) GEOS-4 data assimilation system. Documentation of this data assimilation system (GEOS-4) can be found at: http://gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov/systems/geos4/

The trajectories are generated by Dr. Leslie R. Lait and the plots were made by Dr. S. Randolph Kawa. The actual back trajectory data are located on the ESPO archive.
