Welcome to the review site for the Goddard Code 916 Stratospheric Ozone Lecture Series. You have been sent to this site to access the text and graphics for the following proposed lecture series to review. The documents are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. If you do not have a PDF reader please obtain one from the Adobe Acrobat site.

A description about the series of Earth System Science Educational Products being developed at the NASA Goddard Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) in conjunction with educators and scientists is available.

Stratospheric Ozone

The basic structure of this outline is to first provide a broad overview of the "ozone" issue. This is followed by 2 sections that give the background or observations of the atmosphere. This gives the reader the context of the stratosphere. We move from the context section to the radiative, chemical and dynamical properties of the stratosphere (4-6). With some understanding of the physics, the reader can then understand the measurements of ozone. This leads itself into a discussion of the trends of ozone. Sections 9 and 10 of this document lend themselves to a discussion of the pollution of the stratosphere, and the Antarctic ozone hole. We conclude with modeling efforts of the present and future stratosphere.
