20 April 2021 The version of the dataset has been updated to (V2.7) The SBUV algorithm uses climatological ozone profiles as a priori to constrain retrievals. In this new version, the ozone climatology had been updated. In the troposphere, a sonde-based ozone climatology was replaced with a climatology derived from GMI model simulations to account for variability that cannot be sampled by the relatively sparse sonde network. In addition, apriori ozone profiles includes correction factor for the diurnal ozone effect. This correction factor depends on local solar time of the measurement and is derived based on the Goddard Diurnal Ozone Climatology [Frith et al., 2020]. The diurnal corrections are especially important for SBUV-2 instruments that were launched on board of satellites with drifting orbits when the measurements were acquired at different local times over the lifetime of the mission. The corrections are negligibly small for Suomi NPP OMPS between 60S-60N, but at high latitudes where measurements are acquired at different local solar times these corrections provide a better apriori constrains. This version also includes updated soft calibrations for OMPS channels, which we derived by comparing OMPS NP radiances with NOAA-19 (see table X). This was done to ensure consistency between the long-term SBUV record and OMPS. *** This directory contains ozone profile data created from a research dataset developed by NASA's NPP Ozone Science Team using nadir measurements from Suomi-NPP's Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS). The format of the data is identical to that used for the series of NASA ansd NOAA SBUV instruments. It is ASCII format providing only the retrieved ozone profiles - mixing ratio at 15 standard pressure levels, and ozone layer amounts in DU (dobson units) for 13 layers from the surface to 0.0004 hPa. Detailed data in HDF format are also available on request.
