This describes the contents of the n2o_*_theta.ascii files in this directory. n2o_lat_theta.ascii contains N2O seasonal means binned by latitude and potential temperature. n2o_eqlat_theta.ascii contains the N2O seasonal means binned by equivalent latitude and potential temperature. There are four seasons labelled: DJF (Dec-Jan-Feb) MAM (Mar-Apr-May) JJA (Jun-Jul-Aug) SON (Sep-Oct-Nov) The latitude value is next to the season. Latitudes run from -72 to 88, incremented by 2 degrees. Equivalent latitudes run from -90 to 90, also incremented by 2 degrees. After the season and latitude are 5 lines of N2O mixing ratios. These are the 35 potential temperature values, running from 360 to 530 K, increments of 5 K. Missing values are '999.9'. This worked is published in: "Climatology and small-scale structure of lower stratospheric N2O based on in situ observations", JGR, 104, 2195-2208, 1999. The post script files in this directory are Plates 4 & 5 of that paper, which are color contour plots of the data in the latitude and equivalent latitude coordinates. The color post script files in this directory are for Plates 4 & 5 of that paper (seasonal mean N2O in latitude and in equivalent latitude).
