Saharan Dust over the Canary Islands, Feb. 11, 2001 (SeaWiFS)

I am an atmospheric scientist in the Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics Laboratory at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. I lead research on the effects of atmospheric aerosols on Earth's weather and climate system. I have built a coupled global model of Earth's aerosol system and applied this model to various studies relevant to NASA's goals of understanding how the Earth system is changing. This has included both theoretical and practical studies using numerical modeling tools, space- and Earth-based remote sensing data sets, and participation in intensive aircraft field campaigns. I am currently developing a next generation model of aerosols to improve our prediction capability of atmospheric composition.
