This project is designed to provide a road map leading to a coupled climate/chemistry model. We are starting with the Finite Volume General Circulation Model (FVGCM). We will do a series of experiments with that model designed to understand potential feedbacks between the atmosphere's composition and the state of the climate. We have chosen this version of the FVGCM for our initial period of investigation because it is the model now being used for a 50-year CTM run with full stratospheric chemistry. The model has a number of desirable stratospheric transport properties including a reasonable stratospheric turnover time and a reasonable Antarctic vortex.
